Oh, Brother

Sometimes I think my house would be better if it was equipped with a padded octagon for the boys to spend their days in. It makes me laugh because I know this is just the beginning of their days of wrestling and rough-housing.

 Riding his bubba
Tate the "bull" knockin' brother down
Going for the hair...it's a classic Bowen move!
In a house full of testosterone I'm not quite sure why I want to decorate, it's bound to get torn up or destroyed with all the chaos. But honestly, I wouldn't want it any other way! I love watching them play together!

Swing batter batter

Tate LOVES to play baseball! He could stay outside for hours swinging that bat and often doesn't like to go places without it! It's actually a little heavy so I'm quite surprised he doesn't complain about his arm hurting. While I went away with Bowen to Austin for the weekend, Trevor stayed here with Tate but found out he would need to go to Fort Worth to pick up a truck so my mom and dad took turns watching him. After he woke up from his afternoon nap he spent the rest of the afternoon/evening at my dad's house playing baseball! He's a lefty. I'm soooo excited to watch him play t-ball and be a baseball mom as he gets older---that is, if he's even still interested by that point.

My little slugger, I love you!

"Taqueria Teal" Fireplace

Making our new house "our home" is an exciting process and I've jumped on it as soon as we signed the papers! I had been imagining what colors I'd paint the walls and what changes I'd make. One of the first things I wanted to do, which sounds crazy, was paint the back of the fireplace that is in our current playroom TURQUOISE! When I posted progress pictures on Facebook I had a friend say "you might want to be careful with those colors. It might start looking like a taqueria!" It made me laugh and now I call my color choice "a lovely taqueria teal" I might be out of my mind but I just had to do it! It will now be our living room and I think it will be a fun punch of color! We are a young family and we need some color and imagination in this house! Here's a couple teaser pictures of the wall painting in progress.

Thanks Courtnie for helping! What a good sister!
 And Tate helped too!
and Bowen ran around and tried to finger paint ;-)
What a helper!

More before and after pictures to come!

4th of July

This year we had a wonderful 4th of July that started, well on July 3rd. We went over to Dad and Shelly's (Gran-pa and Nana's) and had dinner after watching the bomber fly over head. Tate loved it even though we couldn't see it very well. Then we went to watch fire works from the old Winn-Dixie parking lot. We turned up the music from the Pop's Concert that was playing on the radio and sat on the tailgate and watched the show. We all enjoyed it but before long the boys were sleepy and ready to go home. I wish I would've thought to bring my camera but I'm sure no one missed the bright flashes! ;-) It was a good night.

Then on the 4th Tate and Trevor went shooting with Eric, Steph, and Uncle Ed, so we went to go eat lunch at Jenna and Ryan's house and hang out with little Carson!
 Bowen's sweet smile! Little stinker
 With this Poppy
 Uncle Ryan and baby Carson
I'm sure Bowen's thinking "Mom, get that camera out of my face"
 Jenna and sweet baby Carson
Bowen loves kitties! This is the first time one has actually let him pet it for a little while. I'm glad that the cat left intact! haha
And what's better than homemade ice cream on 4th of July? Nothing...okay, well the fireworks are up there but the homemade ice cream is definitely one of my favorite parts of this holiday (that and freedom, I guess)
 Sweet boy just hung out
then we got the brilliant idea to try to have a photo op with a 13 month old and a 3 month old. hahaha
they didn't really get the idea. But, it was cute nonetheless!
Silly boy! He sure does love to be tickled.
He was getting pretty sleepy by this point
I was imitating his signature pose
 The sweet new family
Feeding little man ice cream...he definitely dug it!
Then after the boys woke up from naps we went out to the ranch for dinner with the family. Here Tate is being sweet and giving sugars to Bowen.
and saying "CHEESE"! What a ham!
 Bowen driving the truck
and we got to meet sweet Jacki! She's so cute! Good work Bobbi and Jake!
Then we ate watermelon and more ice cream
 played in the grass
 catching grasshoppers
and watching horses. We also swam for a little while and then decided to call it a night. As we were heading back into town from the ranch we got to see the finale of the fireworks show. It was beautiful! I love the sparkly fireworks!

What a great 4th of July!

Big News! (and no, I'm NOT pregnant!)

Thought with a title like that I'd better preface this post! haha

A few weeks back we officially, for the first time ever, became HOME OWNERS!!!

YAY! So excited to finally call somewhere home for more than 6 months! We are already getting paint on the walls and starting to get some home improvement projects underway! I'll be posting plenty of before and after pictures!

I know it's dorky but here is Trevor and I on closing day. He just loveeesss to take cheesy pictures of everything we do :-)
