OREOS!

The other day Bowen woke up from his nap right as Tate finally fell asleep. I figured what better way to keep a kid quiet for a little while than to give him cookies!

 This is serious business, people!
 yummmmm
and then he saw me dip my cookie in milk and he decided he needed to do it too!
but he decided he really liked just playing in the milk
silly boy....gah, love those baby blues!
 more playing in the milk
whole hand dunk!
 sweet little hands
and wash it down with lots of water!
drinking like a big boy- no sippy top for this kid!

My boys sure do love their sweets---must take after their Mama!

Off to Gigi and Papa's House

A couple of weekends ago Trish and Victor offered to keep Tate and Bowen overnight so Trevor and I could have a full-night's rest and some time alone.  It was the very first time Bowen had been away from me for more than a couple of hours-much less all night! I must say that I did have some anxiety but I was super excited to sleep all the way through the night and have some much needed time with Trevor and I.

Here's Tate's cheesy grin as he's packin up and headin out to the ranch.

Bowen was pretty excited too!
Waving goodbye! That night Trevor and I went to my Aunt and Uncle's house for a barbecue for labor day festivities and said hello then headed out to see a movie that we tried to see earlier in the day but the A/C was out in the theater so we decided to come back later. It was the Campaign with Will Ferrel- funny but nothing I need to see again. Then we went to eat and came home and went to sleep! It was sooo nice! I slept all the way through the night but woke up pretty early-I guess out of routine. I was ready to see my babies. But before we went to pick them up we decided to go for a hike near the dam.

It was a neat area. Very rustic and not much of a trail.

Then we climbed all the way up the rocky dam (it was a little treacherous and much harder than it appeared) and looked out over the drought stricken lake. It was kinda sad but still beautiful. Hopefully we will get enough rain to fill it back up soon!

We had an awesome, relaxing time. We were ready to see the babies so we went to the ranch to pick them up. Apparently, they had not slept well the night before :-/ but we were very appreciative to Gigi and Papa for their generosity and I know the boys had a good time too!

Thanks again Gigi and Papa!

Tate's first Gymnastics Class

Tate is a fiesty little monkey with copious amounts of energy so what better place than a gymnastics gym to let him go play and learn new skills!
We got there and put our shoes in the cubby and got ready for class. I think he already knew he was supposed to stretch and warm up! hahah There were other kids in there and so he had a great time running around and talking to them.
and so did Bowen!
We might have to put Bowen in, too! Little guy has some skills!
Tate just went right on in without even looking back at me! This is just another indication that he is turning into "a big boy"! I wasn't allowed to go in with him so I stayed in the lobby and watched through the glass. He went over to stretch on his mat and did really well. He stayed on tracked about 80% of the time during stretching but sometimes he'd wander to the middle of the circle and check things out.
Next they started rotations and he went to bars. He did good and he does this a little at home on daddy's weight lifting bars.
Swinging like a little monkey

but really all he wanted to do was jump on the trampoline. He kept looking over there throughout class waiting for his turn to go bounce. A couple of times when the teachers weren't paying attention he'd sneak over and try to get up there before anyone noticed.

He did really great! I can't wait to see him growing and learning new tricks. I'm sure he'll be doing cart wheels around the house. I loved gymnastics growing up and I hope he likes it too. It is supposed to be really good for balance and coordination so I hope that he will benefit from it.
