Our San Antonio Trip- The Childrens' Museum

Trevor had been traveling a lot and was feeling homesick so when he found out he'd be going to San Antonio for work we decided to go down and visit him. We'd have some fun of our own while he was working during the day and at night we'd be able to eat dinner with him and spend some time with him. He was very grateful we did and so were we. It was a lot of fun but also very stressful. Anytime you are traveling with small children it requires a lot more packing--why do these little people require sooo much?! The constant tantrum stage they're in is quite a struggle. But, we made it there safe, had fun while we were there, and got to spend quality time with Daddy. So, all in all I'll call it a success.

The second day we made it to the Children's Museum downtown. It was really incredible and the kiddos loved it! I wish we had somewhere closer to home like this. It's educational and very entertaining, even for me. The only downside I'll say is that there were tons of kids and having two that go in opposite directions with just me to wrangle them was stressful. But they had a ton of fun and we will be going back- hopefully next time with help ;-)

This is the first activity center we came to. It was a massive ball pit with lots of tunnels that had air flow to push the balls towards a ball pit overhead. It worked with the idea of gravity that what must go up must come down. They'd get a certain amount of balls to the overhead pit and then once it was full it'd fall down on them. They loved when all of the balls would fall from the sky. Plus there were tons of gidgets and gadgets to mess with and they were free to do what they want.

Tate was helping Bowen reach to get the balls in the basket. He's such a good big brother---most of the time ;-)

Then we went to see animals and to the art center where the boys colored and painted.

Then we went to the lego island and race car area.

After driving the tractor in an enclosed space we went downstairs and saw this foam building area. They played for a little while but Tate really wanted to put them all back in the baskets. Then it turned into Gladiators fighting with noodles. But hey, they're boys I've come to expect that.

We went to the big bubble area and the water display that used water pressure to move little boats. This place was a kid's dream come true.

Last we went upstairs where they had a space shuttle and launch station where they pretended to be NASA Space controllers. It was a blast---no pun intended ;-)

Sidewalk Painting

When it's so hot outside I struggle with keeping the boys busy. I searched through my Pinterest pins and came across a recipe for sidewalk chalk paint and Tate loved it! Bowen liked the process of making a mess but that's about it.

Bowen would rather chase me with the paint brush.

4th of July- Part 2

On 4th of July we went over to Mom's for a bbq with the family. And of course there was homemade ice cream and swimming! It was unusual weather this year though. It was actually a little bit chilly (in comparison to the sweltering July weather!) Tate is my little fishy and he would not get out of the pool for anything so in some of these photos you can see his little lips are practically blue!

Bowen likes to swim but is still very interested in checking everything else out too!

After we went home and took a good long nap we went out to see Grandaddy and Nana at the lake.

It was the first time for the boys to be on a boat and they LOVED it! Thanks Junior for taking us out.

And then to top off the evening the snocone truck came by!

Tubing with the family. This thing was like a floating couch. Tate was such a champ and didn't want to get off! Bowen wasn't so excited but I think he was more interested in hanging out with Grandaddy in the boat.

This was one of the very best fourth of July's I've ever had! We had an amazing time with family and can't wait to do it again next year!

4th of July- Part 1

July 3rd in San Angelo is a celebration of Independence Day at the Riverstage with beautiful music and a gorgeous firework show. I decided the boys were still a little too young to stay entertained and happy (especially being so close to bedtime). So, this is the second year we set up at the parking lot on the hill overlooking the Riverstage so we can watch and set off our own sparklers and pop its. Grandad and Nana came and joined us and we had a great time! I love fireworks and probably enjoyed it more than everyone else but hey, what can I say THEY SPARKLE!
