playing catch up

Tomorrow I will post Tate's 5 month pictures and a posting about father's day (yes, I am completely late on everything..surprise, surprise) but until then I thought I would write just a little.

Today Tate was a little fussy but then tonight he was watching Kitty and so giggly! It was the first time I've really heard him just bust up laughing! It was ADORABLE! It makes everything worth while just to see him grin and to hear his laughter.

I am using a new all-natural soap for him and it smells amazing! I love it. I love Aveeno and that is what I usually use for him but I wanted to try something different that had no bad stuff in it (Aveeno is actually quite good about not having too many nasty ingredients, but I figured even less is better).

We went to the doctor on Monday and he was 18.14 pounds! That's almost a full pound in a month he has put on. That's not that surprising, but still! He is growing soo fast! I also asked him about Tate's fussiness and if it is still colic. He said no, babies usually grow out of colic between 6-12 weeks. He thinks it is probably acid reflux. We've tried medication before but he said it would probably take between 2-3 weeks to see a difference. I'm gonna stick it out and make sure he gets it enough and hopefully he will feel much better! He also gave us some cream for his rash. It's caused by drool-silly drooly baby!

We miss Trevor so much and I can't wait til he comes home but I know that this is a necessary trip and I pray that he is safe and comes home soon with good news :)

Kitty got groomed and she is all fluffy head and tail and naked skinny body...with a red, white, and blue bow of course!

Courtnie and Alim came in this weekend for Nanny's wedding and she was able to spend some quality time with her nephew :)

Aunt Cait comes over every day to help me out with Tater bug. She sits with him while I do laundry or get little things done around the house. I love having her here. Tate does too :)
We like the company!

We are adding in veggies this week and I will be using some from Trish and Victor's garden! I love that they will be organic and home grown! I will also be going to the farmer's market to get other stuff. I can't wait! I love fresh food!

So, those are just a few tid bits. There will be more and better posts tomorrow, promise! ;)

Just a few Tid-Bits

Lately we have been swimming a bunch. Luckily, we have lots of pools to go to! He really likes to kick his legs and splash around. We even have cute little floaties at each place. I usually put him in his cap and trunks and let him loose but he's even gone in his birthday suit a couple of times when we didn't go prepared haha!

He's getting so strong and loves to move around; however, he still can't crawl so he gets frustrated. I try to keep him interested but nothing keeps his attention for long. He does do Bumbo time more and enjoys that for a little while. Walks are still the go to if all else fails.

He giggles a lot now! He loves to watch Kitty and try to grab her. She still runs and hides but that's to be expected from her. He loves funny faces and can vocalize so much now. His range of tones and pitches in his voice I think even amazes him.

His hair is white/blonde from one direction and reddish from another. It's funny to see how different it looks in all lights and angles.

He finally took a good nap in his crib today! YEA! Although I love napping with him, it's another step towards a little independence which I think in turn helps build his confidence. Sometimes when he does wakes he does so good-he just lies there and hangs out (for a small amount of time, mind you)

Sometimes I get so frustrated with myself for not being more patient. Each night I pray for patience and some days are great but other days I get mad at myself. I know he can't help it. And don't get me wrong, I LOVE being with him all the time- I'm truly blessed in that aspect. But I feel drained if I can't keep him entertained and I hate that he gets upset or frustrated-it feels as if I failed him. It truly is a full time job but I couldn't ask for a better one. Each day is a new one and it is so awesome to see him grow and change and learn. God has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams. I love him oodles and oodles :)

Rocking Horses

I would really like to start creating a line of rocking horses like the one I did for Tate. I had a lot of fun doing it and I have so many ideas. Doing creative things like that make me feel energized and happy. I'm thinking about trying to do a starter set of about 5 to show some baby boutiques and put on Etsy just to see how they are received by others and then if they do well to go from there. I'm not sure how I'll price them yet. Any thoughts?

PS- Isn't Tate so studdly on his horse?! haha I love it!

4 Months

My sweet little boy is officially 4 months and 2 weeks old. I've been a busy mommy and haven't had an opportunity to post his 4 month picture and updates, so here it is.

At 4 months:

-Tate weighed 17.10 pounds and is 26 inches. He's such a big boy!

-He can roll over both ways!!! YEA! He finally got from the back to tummy. It took a while to get that arm out of the way, but he got it!

-started eating rice cereal 1-2 times a day. Now he is eating it for lunch and dinner. He will eat the entire bowl! He even opens his mouth for the spoon. The first bite is never very good but he's doing great!

-Still loves to be outside more than anything! Being in west Texas in the summer is not really ideal for this; however, I still walk him in his stroller a couple times a day with a bag of frozen strawberries/peas behind his back or head to keep him cool.

-Sleeps on his side most of the time but will roll over on his back and put his hands above his head too-precious :)

-While he is eating he likes to stick his hands in my mouth-it makes me laugh, goofy boy!

-He loves to giggle at Trevor. He also can recognize most of the family now. Dad will hold him a chase Kitty (which her name is going to have to change to Bitty or Kippy soon to avoid confusion, haha). He loves Kitty!

-He still nurses every 2 hours or so. I don't know how long I'm going to continue. I'm guessing until he is eating a lot more solid-maybe 9 months.

-He smiles a lot more now.

-We've gone swimming about 3 times now. He splashes and gets water in his face and gets frustrated. He actually kicks around a lot. He seems like he likes it and it gives him a break from the heat. I love his swimming trunks-thanks Aunt Courtnie.

-He sleeps really good at night-usually goes to bed for good at 10/10:30 and sleeps til about 6, eats, and then goes back to sleep til about 9. He has slept in his room, in the crib, since about 2 months; however, I'm guilty of letting him take his daytime naps with me in our bed. He's just so cozy and sweet. He's a snuggle bug.

-He loves noises and kisses in his neck. Daddy does them the best.

-He's been soooo drooly for the past month. I think it's the beginning of teething but none have shown, yet.

-He can stand for a really long time (and prefers to be standing up or sitting down, opposed to laying down). He walks around while you hold onto his hands and he likes to dance his little feet.

-is in 6-12 month clothes, mostly 9 months work well though.

I love him so much! Each day I can see him growing and learning. He's so beautiful and it is the most amazing feeling in the world to be his mama!
